Actress Folorunsho Adeola on How Social Media Boosts Her Business and Acting Career

Nollywood actress Folorunsho Adeola, popularly known as Arike Gold, has highlighted the pivotal role of social media in propelling her business ventures. In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, Adeola discussed the numerous benefits of these online platforms, particularly in reaching a wider audience, including a global clientele.

"I love social media. I want it to remain the way it is because I make money from it through my business. Most of my customers are in the Diaspora.

Renowned for her impeccable fashion sense, the actress revealed that her hair is a prized possession, often described as "very expensive."

Reflecting on her acting career, Adeola noted that her appearance frequently evolves to suit the demands of different roles. She also addressed a common issue within the Nollywood industry: the underpayment of actors, often influenced by personal connections. "Even before entering the industry, there was a tendency to work for free," Adeola remarked. "It was like that even before we got into the industry. When we got in, we had to do free jobs. Now, things have changed. We are in the age of social media. One can even be a celebrity on Instagram before being a celebrity on TV. Then we were doing it for our friends; now it has to come with money."

Adeola's journey in Nollywood began with the film "Alapa Stainless," produced by Mr. Latin in 2008. However, her significant breakthroughs came with the critically acclaimed films "Ayonitemi" and "Olowolayemo."

As social media continues to shape the entertainment industry, Adeola's success story serves as an inspiration to aspiring actors and entrepreneurs alike. Her ability to leverage these platforms to enhance her career and business demonstrates the immense potential of social media in today's digital age.
