You Are Just Missing From My Life: Lynn Forbes Gave Heartbreaking Tribute to AKA on the 38th Birthday. ( South Africa ๐ฟ๐ฆ)
It was the 38th birthday of South African rap icon Kiernan "AKA" Forbes that his mother, Lynn Forbes, has wept in front of her fans, in an intensely personal and emotional retrospective of the life of her late son.
Lynn, affectionally referred to by Megacy fan base as Glammy, went to social media to write a letter directly to Kiernan but opted to skip the fame and the Supa Mega character in order to honor the close and personal aspects of the man she had simply referred to as her son.
"Just Missing from My Life"
Lynn started with an emotional appeal explaining that his absence in her life following his death in February 2023 is not really gone but merely missing. As they went through the usual ups and downs of any family, Lynn has realized that she is now willing to consciously only focus on the highs.
She wrote:95Your laugh that was rather a chuckle, our talks, how you would get excited when you got an idea. I wonder what I will miss about the hugs, the teasing, the little things of our everyday life that we shared.
The Little Things Do Make a Difference.
The tribute created an image of a side of AKA the public that hardly ever saw: a man who was a little boy at heart, who chewed his ice lollies too loudly, and who found the easy comfort of lying on the couch and watching Dexter or Somebody Feed Phil.
Lynn remembered in particular the ritual of packing her bags after every two weeks to stay with him when his daughter Kairo was scheduled to be away on vacation; a job she herself said she never imagined she would be missing.
The scenes Lynn reflects back on as her favorites:
And the voice of his voice, calling out Maaaa!
Unplanned lunches and protracted phone calls.
Seeing him become excited about new creative thoughts.
The mere friendship of mutually watching TV.
A Legacy Carried in the Heart
The "Megacy" - the loyal fan base of AKA - countered this with an avalanche of love and the comments were inundated with praises of the fallen star. To Lynn, it was not about the awards or the hit songs that she was present on the day, but the version of Kiernan that she had the privilege to know.
"I carry it all with me. Every memory," she concluded. "Always in my heart. Mom."
Now that South African music industry is still grappling with the emptiness his absence has caused, Lynn Forbes has been the pillar of elegance that the human behind the superstar is never forgotten.
