Table Turns: Peller Chases IShowSpeed in Lagos After Vowing to Ignore Him" (Nigeria 🇳🇬 )
"
The Nigerian online community has been in a state of pandemonium over a series of events which have brought a popular social media influencer, TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat aka Peller, into the light of social media ridicule.
The drama reached a rolling boil this week as the world-renowned streamer IShowSpeed continued his "Speed Does Africa" tour in Lagos. While a definite high point of the tour was simply getting to meet and greet with the streamer, the real show was in the âhumbling’ of Peller, who was snubbed by the American despite a desperate attempt to meet up.
“The Boast: “I no go even see am””
But mere days before Speed’s visit, Peller went viral in a video where he laughed off the importance of a visit. Recording his conversation with another YouTuber named Enzo, Peller showed disinterest in a meeting with this YouTube giant.
So when Enzo encouraged him to come and introduce himself to Speed, he replied in Pidgin:
“Enzo,
My speech, English, e no go go o!
I no go even see am."
He also alleged that he was very much engaged in preparations for university education in the field of Art and was basking in the glory of having achieved tremendous success locally, in the sense that he did not need to “chase” the international star.
Reality: Chasing the Convoy
Just as Speed’s plane landed at Lagos, the storyline suddenly took a drastic turn. According to eyewitness accounts as well as video evidence that has sincegone viral, Peller was live amidst the crowds of Lagos, hotly chasing down the IShowSpeed convoy. Ironically enough, the same person who said he “would not even see” Speed got spotted in among the crowds, begging for a spot in the streamer’s stream. Footage making rounds on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter) highlights Peller trying to get near Speed’s car, his eagerness to get a collab written all over his face despite previous dismissive responses
The Cold Shoulder
However,
Despite the level of fame that Peller enjoys in Nigeria, the “link-up” went nowhere. It seems that the unpredictability and rapid pace of IShowSpeed completely ignored Peller's presence amidst the crowd. Although Speed allowed several other Nigerians to feature in his videos during his visit to the country, Peller remained nowhere to be seen.
Social Media Backlash
The
“The irony of this situation has led to a phenomenon of ‘memes’ being posted all over social media sites.”
Fans have been splicing the "ignore" video clip created by Peller with videos of Peller chasing Speed’s car.
"Clout Chasing": Some users believe that the TikToker is simply trying to "look cool" in front of a camera while also being "desperate to gain recognition worldwide."
A commenter on X posted, "Peller claimed he didn’t have enough English to address Speed, but he certainly had enough legs to chase Speed’s car. What a humbling experience.".
As IShowSpeed prepares to depart for the next leg of his tour, Peller remains the subject of intense debate—leaving fans to wonder if the "TikTok King of Nigeria" will address the snub or continue to focus on his "Art studies" as originally planned.
