Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬: Social Media Influencer Dami Foreign Issues Public Apology to Tiwa Savage Following Backlash

Nigerian social media personality Dami Foreign has officially issued a public apology to Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage. The apology comes after the "Queen of Afrobeats" called him out for derogatory comments made regarding her and her young son, Jamil Balogun.

The controversy ignited when Savage, known for being fiercely protective of her family, addressed the influencer’s online behavior directly, sparking a wave of criticism from fans and industry peers against Dami Foreign.

In a post shared via his X (formerly Twitter) account, Dami Foreign expressed regret for the hurt his comments caused, insisting that his intentions were not malicious.

"Dear @TiwaSavage, I'm sorry if you got offended by some of the tweets I made about you," he wrote. "You must be very angry and hurt for you to have called me out. I want you to know that I don't mean bad or de@th for you or your son."

He further claimed that his history with the singer isn't entirely negative, noting that he has posted supportive content in the past that may have gone unnoticed. "There are lots of positive tweets I've made about you that you've probably never seen... It's all love from this side. I sincerely apologize."

While the specific "deleted" tweets that triggered the initial row were not explicitly detailed in the apology, the tension centered on remarks involving Savage's son. Nigerian social media users have recently been more vocal about holding influencers accountable for comments involving minors, leading to a swift and intense backlash against Dami Foreign.

Tiwa Savage publicly called out the influencer for disrespectful comments.

Dami Foreign claims he never intended physical harm or "death" toward the family.

A formal apology has been issued, though Tiwa Savage has yet to publicly accept it or comment further.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the thin line between social media commentary and online harassment, especially when high-profile celebrities choose to engage directly with their critics.
