Nigeria 🇳🇬: Nigerian Reality Star Saskay Sounds Alarm Over Afghanistan’s Permanent Ban on Female Education

Former Big Brother Naija housemate and creative artist Saskay has sparked an intense national conversation after warning that Nigeria could face a grim future similar to the current crisis in Afghanistan.

The reality star’s comments came in response to a viral report on X (formerly Twitter) confirming that the Afghan Minister of Education has declared a permanent ban on school access for women and girls.

Reacting to the news, Saskay (born Tsakute Jonah) shared the post with a sobering caption that quickly gained traction:

This is what the future looks like for Nigeria if we don't act now."

The statement highlights growing concerns regarding the educational divide in Nigeria, particularly in regions where insecurity and cultural barriers already hinder female enrollment.

While Nigeria and Afghanistan operate under different political structures, Saskay’s warning points to several domestic red flags:

Nigeria currently has one of the highest populations of out-of-school children globally.

Recurrent school kidnappings in the North have led to the temporary closure of many institutions.

The fear that radical ideologies could further erode the progress made in gender-inclusive education.

Followers and activists have rallied behind her sentiment, with many noting that "action" involves more than just policy—it requires a cultural shift and a demand for better security.

Critics, however, argue the comparison is extreme, noting that Nigeria's constitution and active civil society provide a buffer against the total systemic collapse seen in Kabul. Nonetheless, Saskay’s "wake-up call" serves as a reminder that educational rights are fragile and require constant protection.
