Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬: Naira Marley Laughs Off Threats Over Mohbad Scandal

 — Nigerian singer Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has sparked fresh social media debate after taking a direct swipe at critics who threatened him during the height of the investigation into the death of his former signee, Mohbad.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), the Marlian Music boss mocked those who claimed there would be dire consequences if he returned to Nigeria or was spotted in public.

"Marley’s comments, delivered in Pidgin English, suggested that the public outcry and threats of physical confrontation were merely "performative." He wrote:

Everybody that time just dey do like if we come naija or if they see us they will do something to us..."

The singer’s tone appeared dismissive of the massive backlash he faced in late 2023. Following the passing of Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, Marley was at the center of a social media firestorm. Fans and activists pointed to documented instances of harassment and physical assault against the late singer, leading many to vow that Marley would be "persona non grata" in the country.

Despite the initial heat, which included a period in police custody for questioning, Naira Marley has gradually resumed his public life and music career. His latest tweet suggests he feels "untouchable" or that the public’s anger has subsided enough for him to joke about the previous tension.

Some "Marlians" welcomed his boldness, viewing it as a sign of his innocence.

Many others expressed outrage, viewing the comment as "insensitive" and "boastful" given that the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death remain a sensitive topic for the general public.
