Kenya 🇰🇪: Shes Kemunto Announces Premium WhatsApp Dating Hub

Social media influencer Shes Kemunto is adding matchmaking services to the list of things she does as she launches a dating group for those who feel they are done with the free dating sites.

What has triggered quite an air of discussion on social media platforms is the fact that Kemunto charged a tiered entrance fee of Ksh 4,000 for men and Ksh 2,000 for women. According to the socialite, the charges are set this way in order to sift out 'spectators' and only seek those interested in looking for a partner.

Response to some of the Instagram story questions she received about why the group was not public, she responded, “So I don't want to be part of overcrowded and unproductive online spaces.”

999+ people just trying to join to see who else is in there when they haven’t even paid their membership isn’t going to fly,” she said. “I want to collaborate with a few select individuals who know what they’re looking for."

Differently from the conventional dating sites, Kemunto plans to be her own gatekeeper. First, Kemunto plans to screen participants based on criteria to ensure the group remains classy:

Key areas to focus on when selecting members:

Employment status and career path.

Providing the participants with the ability to maintain their lifestyle.

Filtering by age and clarity of intentions.

To encourage those who had doubts about the entry charge, Kemunto told them to resort to the free alternatives, because her service was ‘qui

ck fix.’

“Over here we keep it classy—less people, better deal,” she explained. While she stated she would personally pick the women she wanted, she was much blunter regarding the male applicants. “As for the men, please look anyhow you want as long as you’re worth it.”

This news has sparked an online debate about the monetization of matchmaking and the extent to which the increased entry price necessarily makes good the promise of a “better deal” of love.
