"If Birds Can Do It, Men Should Too": Tacha Sparks Debate Over Romantic Effort (Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ )

Reality TV star and media personality Tacha Akide has set social media ablaze with her latest take on modern dating, insisting that men must stop "slacking" and start putting more effort into wooing women.

Speaking on the cultural shift toward more relaxed dating standards, the former Big Brother Naija housemate dismissed the idea that men should no longer feel the need to impress their partners.

Tacha drew a direct comparison between human courtship and the animal kingdom to highlight what she sees as a decline in romantic initiative.

"The ones that don’t put in effort are the ones trying to push the whole stupid woke 2025 nonsense," she stated. "If a bird can understand he has to impress the female, who are you to not understand you have to impress?"

She pointed out that male birds often go to extreme lengths—using vibrant plumage and elaborate dances—to secure a mate. Tacha argued that since humans share significant biological links with the animal world, the "instinct" to provide and impress should be no different.

Tacha also highlighted what she views as a hypocrisy in the "low-effort" dating movement. She noted that many men claim they shouldn't have to impress, yet they continue to use material offers to gain a woman's attention.

“You can’t tell me men don’t have to impress and every other day you’re telling a girl ‘let me buy you bottles, let me take you out.’ There has to be effort.”

Her comments come at a time when "dating fatigue" and the rise of "low-stakes dating" (like coffee dates or walks) are being heavily debated online. While some fans praised Tacha for demanding high standards, others argued that her perspective places an unfair financial and emotional burden solely on men.

Regardless of the backlash, Tacha remains firm: romance requires effort, and nature is her proof.
