Summer Walker's South Africa Apology: 'I Got Kicked Off' After 30 Minutes

American R&B star Summer Walker has issued a public and "heartfelt" apology to her South African fans following a highly anticipated headline performance at the "In The City" music festival that was unexpectedly cut short after only 30 minutes.

The "Girls Need Love" hitmaker took to social media to express her frustration and disappointment, stating that the drastically shortened set was beyond her control and was not her decision. The incident, which occurred at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on October 5th, left hundreds of fans frustrated and sparked outrage across local social media platforms.

"South Africa, I am so sorry. I literally don't know what happened. I got kicked off the stage," Walker stated on her social media accounts. She clarified her intentions, adding, "I wanted to do the full hour but the venue and SA police didn't allow me to, it was not my fault. I love you guys I'll be back soon."

Fans at the festival, many of whom had waited hours to see the R&B sensation perform, voiced heavy criticism towards the event organisers, Steyn Entertainment. Numerous posts highlighted that supporting acts were allegedly given over an hour to perform, making the headliner's 30-minute set a major source of contention.

Organisers, in response to the backlash, indicated that the early cut-off was due to strict curfew restrictions and venue regulations, which they had to enforce to comply with municipal laws.

The highly-anticipated performance was part of the In The City festival, a spin-off of the popular Rocking the Daisies event, marking a significant moment for the artist's South African fans who had been waiting to see her perform live.
