South Africa 🇿🇦: South African Actress Londiwe Nene Dead at 35; Family Suspects Poisoning

 

The South African entertainment industry is mourning the loss of rising star Londiwe Nene, who tragically passed away at the age of 35. The actress, known for her role as 'Auntie Thuli' on the Showmax youth series Youngins, died on Saturday, October 11, according to a family statement.

While the official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, Nene's family has expressed deep concern over the circumstances, with a relative indicating a suspicion of poisoning.

"As a family, we are deeply heartbroken by this loss and kindly ask for privacy as we navigate through this time of sorrow," the family wrote in a statement released on Monday. "Your understanding, compassion and prayers mean a great deal to us as we find strength and comfort in one another."

A family member reportedly told local media outlets that they suspect the actress "drank poison," though they are awaiting an official post-mortem report to establish the precise cause and circumstances of her sudden death.

Nene was a familiar face on South African television, also starring in shows like Adulting and Outlaws, and as a presenter on Moja Love programs such as Bheka 

Sik'bambile and uThando noXolo. Tributes have poured in across social media from shocked fans and colleagues, who remember her as a vibrant and talented soul whose career was tragically cut short.
