Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬: Nigerian Comedian Mr. Macaroni Marks EndSARS Anniversary with Powerful Statement: "Never to be Forgotten Nor Forgiven"

Popular Nigerian comedian and activist, Debo Adebayo, known as Mr. Macaroni, has issued a potent reminder of the October 20, 2020, Lekki Toll Gate incident, stating the day "is never to be forgotten nor forgiven."

The comedian, who was a vocal participant and advocate during the EndSARS protests against police brutality in Nigeria, took to his Instagram page to mark the grim anniversary.

In his post, he spoke directly to the profound losses suffered by young Nigerians:

"Nigerian Youths lost their lives, jobs, families and dreams at the hands of the most corrupt and evil People we call Leaders!!!"

Mr. Macaroni then delivered the striking, uncompromising core of his message: "Even though some of us are deeply in love with our Oppressors, this day 20/10/2020 is never to be forgotten nor forgiven!"

The statement is seen by many as a commentary on the perceived apathy or short-term memory of some Nigerians concerning the events of that day, where security forces allegedly opened fire on peaceful protesters gathered at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos.

The EndSARS movement, which began in early October 2020, mobilized millions of young Nigerians to protest against the now-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigerian Police Force, which was widely accused of extortion, torture, and extrajudicial killings.

Mr. Macaroni's annual remembrance serves to keep the conversation around accountability and justice for the victims of the protests at the forefront of national discourse. His choice of words highlights a critical tension between collective memory and political reality in Nigeria.
