Yul Edochie Urges President Tinubu to Reimplement Cashless Policy

Popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has publicly appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to reinstate the cashless policy previously implemented by the last administration. Edochie made his suggestion via a statement posted on his official Instagram account, outlining several benefits he believes the policy brought to the Nigerian economy and security landscape.

In his post, addressed directly to President Tinubu, Edochie wrote, "To my leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, I humbly suggest you bring back the cashless policy."

The actor highlighted what he perceived as significant positive impacts of the policy during its initial run. According to Edochie, the cashless system "increased the value of the naira tremendously." He further asserted that it "helped to bring down prices of goods and it made 5 naira, 10, 20 and 50 naira notes regain value."

Beyond economic benefits, Edochie also claimed a notable improvement in security, stating, "The cashless policy also helped to reduce kidnapping massively." He concluded his appeal by respectfully asking the President to "Consider it again Sir," and extended his gratitude, "Thank you Your Excellency."

Edochie's statement has already sparked discussions among his followers and on various social media platforms, with many weighing in on the potential pros and cons of reintroducing such a policy. The previous cashless policy, while aiming to curb corruption and promote digital transactions, also faced significant challenges and public outcry due to implementation issues and scarcity of new currency notes. It remains to be seen how President Tinubu's administration will respond to the actor's public recommendation.
