Sabinus Apologizes to Wizkid FC, Kneels to End Fan Outcry
Popular Nigerian skit maker Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, famously known as Sabinus, has issued a heartfelt apology to the formidable fanbase of music star Wizkid, known as Wizkid FC. The apology follows a controversial comment that sparked significant backlash from the devoted community.
In a viral livestream, the comedian, who recently became a father, directly addressed the controversy. He expressed deep regret over what he described as a misunderstanding and pleaded for forgiveness from Wizkid's loyal supporters.
Sabinus clarified that his original comment was misinterpreted and was never intended to disrespect the Grammy-winning artist. He emphasized that his words were taken out of context and affirmed his high regard for Wizkid.
Providing further context, Sabinus recalled a significant career opportunity when Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy featured him on a major international platform. He questioned why he would then intentionally slight another music icon like Wizkid, given such past professional respect.
To underscore his sincerity, Sabinus mentioned that he had already issued public apologies across his social media platforms. During the livestream, members of Wizkid FC specifically requested that he kneel as a gesture of remorse. Without hesitation, Sabinus complied with the request, reiterating his apology.
This public display of reconciliation comes shortly after fellow skit maker Carter Efe reportedly lost access to his Instagram and TikTok accounts. Efe's suspensions were allegedly a result of offensive remarks he made about Wizkid during a livestream, leading fans to report his pages.
Sabinus's proactive approach appears to be a clear effort to make peace and mend ties with Wizkid's influential fan community.
