In South Africa: Kabza De Small Faces Backlash Over Alleged Song Theft

Amapiano star Kabza De Small is at the center of a social media storm after previewing an unreleased track that many are claiming belongs to fellow artist Mdu a.k.a TRP. The controversy erupted after Kabza played a snippet of the song during a performance at the Souk nightclub reopening in Cape Town on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.

The track, reportedly titled "Mabebuza" and featuring Mdu a.k.a TRP and vocalist Maline Aura, was shared online by The Yanos Updates. However, instead of excitement, the video quickly drew accusations from fans who allege that Kabza is taking credit for Mdu's work.

Numerous social media users pointed out that Mdu a.k.a TRP had reportedly played the same song multiple times previously, leading to questions about why Kabza was now presenting it as new material. Comments flooded in, with one user stating, "This is Mdu’s remix, original song by Maline Aura," and another asking, "This is Mdu’s song, uKabza ungenaphi manje?" The lack of earlier media coverage when Mdu allegedly played the song was also highlighted by fans.

The accusations come as Kabza De Small is gearing up for the release of his much-anticipated album, "Bab’Motha Part 1," which has already experienced delays. As of now, Kabza has not publicly responded to the allegations, nor has he confirmed whether "Mabebuza" will be featured on his upcoming album.
