Ugandan music heavyweight Bebe Cool has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, for a highly anticipated media tour following the release of his latest album, "Break The Chains." The visit marks a significant "homecoming" for the legendary artist, who began his illustrious career in the Kenyan capital more than two decades ago.
Since dropping "Break The Chains" in late May, Bebe Cool has been on an extensive promotional drive in Uganda. Now, the Gagamel boss is taking his new project across East Africa, with Nairobi serving as the first stop on what promises to be a vibrant regional tour.
Speaking about his return to Nairobi, Bebe Cool expressed deep sentiment, noting the city's pivotal role in his early musical journey. "Nairobi is where the journey started. It's where I was mentored. This really feels like a homecoming," he stated, recalling a time when he shared a room with a security guard before securing his first professional studio opportunity. This period laid the foundation for his enduring connection with Kenya and its vibrant music industry.
"Break The Chains" is described as a bold sonic exploration, blending Afrobeats, Afrotech, and Afroelectronic fusion. The album features collaborations with prominent African artists, including Nigeria's Yemi Alade, Uganda's Joshua Baraka, and the UK's DJ Edu, reflecting Bebe Cool's vision of uniting the continent through music. Critics have praised the album for its catchy rhythms and socially conscious lyrics, exploring themes of liberation, love, and African pride.
While in Nairobi, Bebe Cool is expected to engage with both veteran industry figures and new-generation influencers, further strengthening the ties between Uganda and Kenya's music scenes. This visit marks his first return to Nairobi since his appearance on the acclaimed Coke Studio Africa in 2017.
As anticipation builds for his performances and media engagements, all eyes are on Bebe Cool as he aims to once again captivate East African audiences with his signature high-energy style and evolving sound. The "Break The Chains" tour is set to extend to other African cities, including destinations in Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda, promising electrifying shows and a showcase of the album's most talked-about tracks.
