Yul Edochie Reopens Ministry, Claims Divine Mandate to Restore Traditional Ways
Controversial Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has announced the relaunch of his ministry, asserting that he received a direct divine instruction to "lead my people back to their traditional ways." The declaration has stirred considerable discussion online, given Edochie's previous foray into spiritual pronouncements and his public embrace of traditional African spirituality.
Edochie, who has in recent times become a prominent voice on cultural heritage and traditional practices, shared his conviction that God's message is clear: Africans should return to their indigenous customs and values, which he believes are "approved by the Lord God Almighty." He emphasized that his ministry will now focus on guiding people towards these ancestral roots, challenging what he often refers to as the pervasive influence of Western culture that has allegedly caused many Africans to feel disconnected from their heritage.
"Oyibo people really messed us up," Edochie reportedly stated, lamenting that "many Africans are ashamed of identifying with their traditional ways and culture." He reaffirmed his pride in his Igbo heritage, vowing never to be ashamed of his roots and identifying himself as "a proud, hardcore Traditionalist."
This latest development follows Edochie's earlier claims of a spiritual calling, where he had spoken about feeling an unfulfilled void while previously preaching, leading him to seek a deeper understanding of his own cultural heritage. He stated that God directed him to learn about the traditional worship and ways of his people, asserting that it brought him a sense of completeness.
The reopening of his ministry with this specific divine mandate is expected to further fuel conversations around the intersection of faith, culture, and identity in Nigeria, as Edochie continues to position himself as a champion of African traditional values.
