Juliet Ibrahim, Ghana's first president of Women in Film and Television
Juliet Ibrahim, a well-known actress, producer, and businesswoman from Ghana, has been elected as the first President of Women in Film and Television (WIFT) Ghana. Gender empowerment and representation in Ghana's creative sector have advanced significantly with this historic appointment. In order to support women's professional development in all facets of cinema, television, and allied media, WIFT Ghana was founded as an affiliate of the global WIFT International network. It is anticipated that Ibrahim's leadership will give the organisation a powerful voice and guidance as it sets out on its mission.
This milestone is not just a personal achievement, but a powerful moment for all women across Ghana's and Africa's film, TV, and digital media industries who continue to break barriers, amplify stories, and reshape narratives both in front of and behind the camera.
WIFT Ghana proudly joins the global network of Women in Film & Television International (WIFTI) and is affiliated with WIFT Africa, strengthening our ties across continents while remaining rooted in our local mission:
* Empower women.
Create opportunities.
Champion inclusion and visibility.
As President, I'm committed to fostering collaboration, mentorship, and long-term impact for emerging and established female creatives, with a special focus on uplifting youth, storytellers, and innovators across all regions.
The future is female and the spotlight is ours.
Let's write history, together.
