Tulenkey Shares a Revolutionary Daily Routine for Mental Calm: No Phone Zone

In addition to his music, Ghanaian hiplife musician Tulenkey is causing a stir with his thoughtful approach to digital wellbeing. The well-known rapper has declared that he has a rigorous personal policy of avoiding social media until noon every day. He claims that individuals are being robbed of their tranquilly, even at their most private times, by incessant notifications and the unrelenting online buzz.

Tulenkey talked candidly about his choice to significantly scale back his social media presence in an interview on DJ Slim's Daybreak Hitz. He clarified that his focus and general mental condition are greatly impacted by the constant barrage of messages and internet noise.

Tulenkey pondered, "Imagine you're at work and a notification from some girl pops up and distracts you," arguing for an alternative method of digital contact. "Most users don't turn off their notifications, but I think WhatsApp should be utilised similarly to email in that you should only reply when you're online. Why should it be any different when you don't receive email notifications until you enable them?

The artist highlighted how a single alert can cause focus to be diverted for a considerable amount of time. "Opening such notifications can cost you about seven minutes or more to fully regain your focus," he said, pointing out the "unnecessary interruptions throughout the day." Tulenkey has set up a strict digital boundary every morning and turned off all app notifications on his phone in an effort to avoid these diversions. "When I wake up, my phone remains on ‘Do Not Disturb’ until 12 pm," he said. "That's when I do the bulk of my work."

He eloquently explained how overwhelming social media is, likening it to a "noisy marketplace" that provides no break. His words, "There’s always too much going on," "It feels like you've entered a noisy marketplace if you truly meditate, unplug, and then re-enter social media. We're in that rush all the time; we're even scrolling while using the loo. It prevents the mind from having a chance to relax. Tulenkey's most recent musical creation, "Barima," which explores men's mental health concerns, also reflects his ideas regarding digital well-being. Right now, the song may be found on popular streaming services.
