The Aliens Cult That Belief In 1997, something very strange happened in a posh California home. This was not a typical crime involving a villain and a victim. The deceased thought they were heading to a better place—on an alien spaceship—despite the fact that it was a mass suicide. This marked the end of the Heaven's Gate group.

Marshall Applewhite (popularly known as "Do") and his partner Bonnie Nettles (also known as "Ti") were the leaders. They believed they were aliens who had invaded Earth in human bodies, which was a rather weird idea. They said that the earth will soon be "cleaned up" and that the only way to live on and advance to the "Next Level" of life was to physically leave their human bodies behind and board a spacecraft.

Their views became much more perverted after Bonnie passed away from cancer. They began to claim that their bodies were merely "containers," and that their brains would transform into new, alien bodies at death. The End and the Comet Then, in 1995, Hale-Bopp, an extremely bright comet, emerged into the sky. This was Applewhite's big sign! He persuaded his supporters that the comet was actually an alien spaceship, and that this was their ticket to the "Next Level." Thus, Applewhite and his 38 supporters rented a large estate in 1997.

 

They were prepared to depart from Earth. They genuinely thought what they were doing was good; they weren't being coerced. They recorded farewell films in which they quietly expressed their excitement about leaving their bodies. As if preparing for a major journey, they even donned brand-new Nike trainers and matching black clothes with 'Heaven's Gate Away Team' insignia. 

The Terrifying FindingIn March, they performed it over a few days. A mixture of alcohol and potent sleeping tablets was gently consumed by each individual. Then, to ensure they couldn't breathe, they tied tight plastic bags over their heads. It was shocking when the police entered the mansion at last. They discovered cleanly laid bodies, each wrapped in a purple cloth. No traces of a struggle were seen. These folks had obviously decided to die because they were certain they would encounter an extraterrestrial spaceship.
