Nigerian Singer Portable Arrested Over Alleged Defamation and Threats Against Fuji Legend Saheed Osupa

Controversial Nigerian street-pop artist Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over allegations of criminal defamation, threat to life, incitement, and character assassination against renowned Fuji musician Saheed Osupa.

According to the police, the arrest followed a valid warrant secured from a Magistrate Court in Ilorin after Osupa filed a petition against Portable. The police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that the allegations against Portable are serious and could lead to a breach of public peace.

Portable was apprehended in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Saturday, April 13, at about 7:25 p.m. and immediately transported to Ilorin for further investigation. His statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties, and arrangements are being made to charge him to court without delay.

The controversy between Portable and Osupa began when Osupa reported one of Portable's songs on Spotify and other streaming platforms for copyright infringement, resulting in the song's removal. Portable responded by attacking Osupa, mocking his physique and questioning his relevance in the music industry. Portable later issued an apology, blaming his outburst on greed ¹ ².
