Naira Marley Calls for Investigation into Mohbad's Wife, Others Present Before Singer's Death
Musician Naira Marley has requested a formal court investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of singer Mohbad (Ilerioluwa Aloba), specifically focusing on Mohbad's wife, Omowunmi, and approximately 14 individuals present at the singer's residence in the days leading up to his death.
According to a statement released by Naira Marley's legal representative, Olusola Okuwobi, the request was made during a virtual testimony before the Coroner's Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Friday. Naira Marley testified that he was abroad at the time of Mohbad's death and maintained that he held no animosity towards the late singer.
"Naira Marley urged the coroner to look away from the suspects presented by the police and social media and look into interrogating Omowunmi and the 14 others who were present at the house 48-72 hours before the unfortunate passing of the singer," the statement detailed.
Okuwobi further stated that Naira Marley believes those who were with Mohbad in his final hours are attempting to deflect responsibility by circulating an older video. He emphasized that Mohbad had previously apologized for the video and received forgiveness prior to leaving Naira Marley's record label. The musician is now urging the court to prioritize a thorough investigation into the individuals present at Mohbad's residence during the critical period before his death.
