VeryDarkMan stated that he refuses to give in to oppressors and is willing to face any consequences, even if it means losing his life.
As the investigation into the alleged bribery scandal involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) deepens, social media influencer Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has made a powerful statement, declaring that he will not back down in the face of mounting pressure from those seeking to silence him. In a bold remark, he asserted, “ I refuse to give out to oppressors if I kpai, I kpai”
VeryDarkMan has been at the forefront of the bribery scandal after playing a key role in exposing allegations against the EFCC. A viral voice recording, which he released, implicated a high-profile individual, Idris Okuneye (popularly known as Bobrisky), in allegedly paying N15 million to the anti-graft agency to drop money laundering charges against him. The recording suggested that Bobrisky received preferential treatment, being housed in a VIP facility instead of a regular prison during his six-month sentence for abusing the naira.
The release of this recording has placed VeryDarkMan at the center of a growing political storm. The House of Representatives has since called for an official inquiry into the allegations, and both Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan have been invited to testify before the committee probing the matter.
However, with his recent statement, VeryDarkMan made it clear that he will not bow to any threats or attempts to discredit him as the investigation unfolds. His defiance in the face of potential retaliation has resonated with his supporters, many of whom see him as a whistleblower standing up against the deep-seated corruption within Nigeria’s institutions.
Critics of the EFCC see this scandal as yet another example of the systemic flaws plaguing the anti-corruption body, accusing it of selectively enforcing justice and engaging in corrupt practices itself. The scandal has raised questions about the integrity of Nigeria’s anti-corruption fight, with many calling for a full overhaul of the system.
VeryDarkMan’s latest declaration has only added fuel to the already heated discourse, with some warning that his outspoken stance could make him a target. Nevertheless, he remains undeterred, even as the inquiry progresses. "If I die, I die," he stated, underscoring his willingness to risk everything to ensure the truth is exposed.
As the case continues to unfold, all eyes are on the House of Representatives and the upcoming hearings. Whether or not VeryDarkMan’s bold stand will bring about real change remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: his refusal to be silenced has added an unmistakable sense of urgency to an already contentious issue.
