Skales, a lesser-known Nigerian artis, has claimed that he wrote a significant number of Wizkid's hit songs, raising questions about the true authorship of the superstar's music.
Nigerian singer Skales has made a shocking revelation, claiming that he played a significant role in writing several hit songs for his former labelmate Wizkid. Skales revealed that he co-wrote several tracks on Wizkid's debut album, "Super Star," including the bonus track "Wiz Party." This revelation has sparked controversy and speculation, with many questioning the authenticity of Wizkid's songwriting credits and the extent of Skales' contributions to his success. Some argue that Skales' claims are a desperate attempt to gain recognition and attention, while others believe that Wizkid may have unfairly taken credit for Skales' work.
Skales, while acknowledging that Wizkid wrote songs for him, has raised questions about the fairness of their songwriting collaboration. The revelation that Wizkid contributed to Skales' hit song "Mukulu" suggests a potential power imbalance in their relationship and raises concerns about the distribution of songwriting credits and royalties.
His statement:
“Back in EME, we were a team so we used to write songs for each other. I wrote songs for Wizkid. He also wrote songs for me, too.
“He wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me and I wrote his song ‘Wiz Party.’ As I said, EME was a collective, so we did teamwork.”
Wizkid and Skales were among the first artistes signed to Empire Mates Entertainment, EME, owned by R&B star and music executive, Banky W, in the early 2010s.
They both later left the record label after a series of disagreements with Banky W.
