Deeone criticized Nons Miraj for giving a fish pie vendor a car instead of money to invest in their business.

 Nigerian comedian Deeone has not shied away from expressing his strong disapproval of fellow content creator Nons Miraj’s recent philanthropic gesture, which has sparked considerable controversy. Deeone publicly condemned Nons Miraj’s decision to gift a viral fish pie vendor a brand-new car, arguing that this flashy display of generosity might have been misguided. In Deeone’s view, rather than focusing on a material gift like a car, which might not directly benefit the vendor’s growing business in the long run, Nons Miraj should have provided him with substantial business capital to truly empower his venture. According to Deeone, such financial support would have been a more sustainable way to help the vendor expand and secure his entrepreneurial future, instead of what he views as a short-term solution.

The debate began to unfold after a video went viral, showcasing Nons Miraj surprising the struggling vendor with a new car, a move intended to boost his business prospects. While many lauded the gesture as heartwarming and generous, Deeone's criticism raised questions about the effectiveness of material gifts versus targeted financial aid in helping small businesses grow. His remarks added fuel to an already heated conversation on social media, where opinions have been divided over whether Nons Miraj’s approach was the best way to support the vendor or simply a performative act of charity.

In his post, Deeone expressed doubts about whether a car was the best way to support the vendor’s business growth. He argued that providing a lump sum of business capital would have been a more thoughtful and strategic investment, enabling the vendor to expand operations, enhance product quality, or diversify his offerings. Deeone also pointed out that owning a car comes with additional expenses, including fuel, maintenance, and insurance, which could become a financial strain for someone already struggling to make ends meet.

This is a nice gesture even though she does not owe the guy anything. She even paid rent and put him in a nice apartment. But buying this guy a car is not helping him and in fact a financial wickedness. He doesn’t have a system yet to bring in money,” he said.
