TikTok and Universal Music Group have reached a deal to restore their music to the app.

It may be remembered that UMG previously removed its catalog from TikTok due to disagreements over inadequate royalty payments to its artists, lack of regulation regarding the use of artificial intelligence, and concerns about mental health and bullying. TikTok responded to UMG's accusations by alleging that the record label prioritized its own interests over those of its artists. The social media platform also maintained that it would not be coerced into paying more than it deemed appropriate.

The accord between UMG and TikTok will be a welcomed development for artists affiliated with UMG's subsidiaries, allowing them to once again capitalize on TikTok's extensive promotional advantages. Likewise, fans will rejoice in the opportunity to engage with their beloved artists signed under UMG. However, while UMG and TikTok have settled their disputes, the situation remains tense between TikTok and the United States government. The government has instructed the Chinese-owned company to divest its US division or face sanctions.
